Top three teams in each division qualify for SWAC Bowling Championships
The 2009 SWAC East Bowling round-up takes place Friday – Sunday in Jackson, MS.
This weekend’s roundup is the second of two tournaments that will help to decide the six teams that will qualify for the 2009 SWAC Bowling Championship Feb. 20-22 in Bessemer, AL. The top three teams from the East and West Divisions will comprise the championship field.
The first bowling roundup of the 08-09 season was held in Baton Rouge in late October. Defending SWAC champion Southern led all teams with a 12-1 record in the West roundup, one game ahead of Alabama A&M. Those two teams lead their respective divisions.
Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M are tied for third with 7-6 record and are currently second and third in the Western Division, one game ahead of Grambling at 6-7.
In the Eastern Division, Jackson State and Alabama State are second and third, ahead of Mississippi Valley State.
