PINE BLUFF, AR – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff opened fall practice with a spirited pair of workouts Monday as first-year head coach Monte Coleman put 89 returning players and newcomers through their paces at Golden Lion Stadium. Despite afternoon temperatures that eclipsed 100 degrees, the Golden Lions looked sharp according to Coleman “I will say this,” Coleman said. “I was very pleased with the run test this morning. We ran 20 100 (yard sprints) and we had zero people fall out or to stop. We had everybody to make it which was very pleasing to me. “Some of the guys who ran extremely well were Tim Turner, Gvona Turner, Johnathan Moore and Raymond Weber. There were a host of guys and the big linemen even ran well. James Bradshaw he’s a freshman that’s come in and he won all 20 of the 100’s. He ran extremely well and I was pleased with that. While the morning practice was mainly conditioning workouts, the afternoon practice session focused more on offensive and defensive team preparation and special team workouts. After going though a university orientation Tuesday morning, UAPB will return to work tomorrow afternoon at Golden Lion Stadium. The team will suit up in full pads for the first time on Friday.
