2149623JACKSON, Miss. – The 2008 Jackson State football season is officially underway as the Tigers held their first preseason practice on a pleasant Monday evening at the JSU practice field.

The Tigers worked out for nearly two hours in helmets and shorts. The team took the field at approximately 7:45 p.m., it was 78 degrees with a slight wind. The Tigers will defend their 2007 SWAC title. On the first day of practice the squad of nearly 90 players worked on basic drills.

The Tigers kick off the season on Sunday, Aug. 31 when JSU faces Hampton in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge. Kick off is set for 1 pm CT / 2 pm ET.
