White (pictured left) made his minor league debut on Saturday, June 28 after he was inserted into a contest versus the Greenville Astros in the seventh inning as a pinch runner. He subsequently went on to hit a single to left field in his first minor league at bat.
I always felt that Wilford had the potential to play professional baseball,†said Interim head baseball coach Waskyla Cullivan. “Wilford has a lot of natural talent and ability as well as a strong work ethic. If he continues to work hard the sky is the limit.”
This past season White competed in 15 games for the Panthers batting .397 while playing third base. White was instrumental in the Panthers run to the 2008 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship Game.
White will make his second appearance in the minor leagues on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Johnson City at 6:00 p.m.
