Alcorn State, MS—Dr. Darren J. Hamilton has announced coaching changes to the women’s basketball program. Legendary coach, Shirley A. Walker, has been replaced on an interim basis by Jason Cable. Walker, who has headed the program for the past 30 years, posted a record of 492-332. Under her tenure, Alcorn State has captured 11 Southwestern Athletic Conference regular-season titles and seven conference tournament championships. In a statement prepared by Hamilton, he states “We thank Coach for her service and Alcorn State University will continue its fine tradition in women’s basketball by continuing to recruit, retain and graduate its student-athletes.”
