Shasta Averyhardt shot a 5-over 77, six shots better than her opening round performance, to pace the Lady Tigers. Her 16-over 160 is tied for 83rd – 12 spots better than where she was after day one.
Nikeya Peay and Jennifer Sells also did better on the second day of competition. Sells cut two shots off her first-day 85 and has a two-day total of 168. Peay did even better, boosting her score by three shots with a 91 on Friday and 185 total for both days.
While Mirielle LaBlanc (83-85-168) and Lauren Ragland (87-88-175) had a little more difficulty during the second day of competition, Jackson State was able to cut five shots off its first day score – something nine of the top 10 teams were unable to do.
Jackson State will tee-off in the final day of the tournament at 12:20 p.m., hoping to continue its improvement on the scoreboard.
