BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham Southern scored a doubleheader softball sweep Tuesday night at the BSC Softball Park when they defeated Jackson State 2-1 and 4-0. With the loss the Lady Tigers season record falls to 14-27.
The Lady Tigers managed five hits in game one including one run batted in from Amanda Boggan in the fifth inning posting a 1-0 lead over Birmingham-Southern. The call would not go unanswered, in the bottom of the fifth the Panthers posted two runs to take a 2-1 lead. The Panthers held the Lady Tigers scoreless for the next two innings.
In the nightcap, the Lady Tigers was unable to score and the Panthers picked up the shutout victory.
Jackson State returns to action at home on Friday when they take on Alcorn State at 4 p.m. and then on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
