Kennesaw, Ga. – After having two doubleheaders canceled over the last week, the Alabama State Hornets were excited to get back on the baseball diamond. However, ASU ran into a dominant pitching duo as the fell at Kennesaw State 9-3 Tuesday night. The Hornets were held to only three hits by KSU’s Adam Fine and Brett Kennedy. ASU got out to quick lead when James Jordan’s triple knocked in Darrion Pedro.
The Owls responded with three in the bottom of the first, and then six in the bottom of the third inning. The Hornets tried to rally in the sixth when Eddie Cole drove in Furquan Shamsud-Din. ASU loaded the bases and picked up another run when Jon Solomon was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. KSU was able to get two fly outs to kill the rally, and went on to the win. Jordan, Zeb Hilburn and Giovanni Fiallo each had a hit for ASU.
The Hornets are back in action this weekend as they host Mississippi Valley State in a weekend series this Saturday and Sunday. First pitch Saturday night is set for 6 p.m. at Paterson Field. Admission is free.
