The Southwestern Athletic Conference 2008 Women’s Bowling Championship will take place February 22-24 at the Holiday Bowl Fun Center in Bessemer, Alabama. The three-day event will feature teams from both the Eastern and Western Divisions looking to end their season with the title of SWAC champion. Participants in the three-day event are Jackson State (18-6, 8-1 – winner of the Eastern Division), Alabama A&M (19-5, 7-2) and Alabama State (7-17, 3-6) while Southern (20-4, 11-1 – winner of the Western Division), Prairie View A&M (16-8, 8-4) and Texas Southern (11-13, 7-5) will represent the Western Division.
Day one of the event will feature round-robin competition for tournament seeding. Each team will square off against the other five teams in team bowling format. At the conclusion of the day, the teams will be seeded one through six. Day two begins with the top two seeds receiving byes into the second round. All six teams will bowl in a double-elimination bracket until there are two teams remaining. Championship Sunday will pit the two remaining teams bowling for the conference title with the match to be televised on ESPNU at a date to be determined.
