2008 SWAC Basketball Tournament Is Set and Ready

swac.gifThe Southwestern Athletic Conference 2008 Men’s Basketball Tournament will take place March 12-15 in Birmingham, Alabama. The top eight teams from regular season play will meet in single-elimination action for four days with the championship culminating on Saturday, March 15. The Tournament Winner will receive the Conference’s Automatic Qualifier and participate in the 2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The tournament’s history dates back to 1978.

Play will begin with the women at 12:30 pm and the men taking the court at 2:30pm. The evening sessions will begin with the women at 5:30 pm and conclude with the men at 8:00 pm.

On Saturday, March 15, the women’s championship will tip at 4:00 pm and be broadcast on ESPNU. The men’s championship will begin at 6:00 pm and will also be broadcast on ESPNU.

Tickets are now on sale for the four-day event. Tickets are ten dollars ($10) per session on Wednesday through Friday while tickets for the championship day are twenty ($20) dollars. Fans who wish to attend all seven sessions can purchase tournament booklets for fifty ($50) dollars.
