PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas- The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers (15-7, 10-0 SWAC) overpowered the Texas Southern Lady Tigers (6-13, 4-6 SWAC) in SWAC action on Saturday, February 9th in front of a packed crowd of 5,247 fans.

On a night where the women’s hoop squad would later unveil there 2007 championship banners, the Lady Panthers looked like champions eager and ready to defend their crown.Prairie View A&M had two players turn in double-double performances with Chari Smith and Gaati Werema scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds apiece.

The outcome of the game was never in question as PVAMU used a strong defensive effort and hot shooting from the field to put together a solid outing. PVAMU shot 46 percent from the floor in comparison to TSU, which shot only 30 percent from the field.
Candice Thomas led all scorers racking up 18 points on a perfect shooting night from the floor, as she went 5-of-5. Kandis Brown provided Prairie View A&M with another solid performance tallying 10 points which was highlighted by two buckets from beyond the arc.
The Lady Panthers return home on Saturday, February 16th to square off against the Jackson State Lady Tigers. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at the William Nicks Building located on the campus of Prairie View A&M University.
