The Southwestern Athletic Conference Women’s Bowling East Round-Up will be held on Friday, January 25-27 in Jackson, Miss. at the Cotton Bowl Lanes bowling center.
Alabama A&M University leads the Eastern Division. AAMU is 11-0 overall, 5-0 in conference play. The Lady Bulldogs have knocked down a total of 12,445 pins. Jackson State is in second place with a 9-2, 3-1 SWAC record, with a total pinfall of 12,464. JSU is followed by the Lady Hornets of Alabama State, while Mississippi Valley State is in fourth place.
In the Western Division, Southern University holds a commanding 6-0 division record, 9-3 overall. The Lady Jags have a combined total of 12,105 pins. Texas Southern University and Prairie View A&M are tied for second place in the conference with a 4-2 record. But Prairie View has a better overall record at 7-4, while the Lady Tigers are 6-6. Grambling State is in fourth place with 4-7, 2-4 in the conference. Arkansas-Pine Bluff is in last place with a 2-9, 0-6 conference record.
All competition from this round-up and the West Round-up, held previously in November 2007, will count toward selections for the 2008 SWAC Bowling Championship on February 22-24. The top three teams from each division will advance to championships, to be held at the Holiday Bowl Fun Center in Bessemer, Ala.
