Tennessee State University guards Bruce Price and Gerald Robinson, Jr. were named Ohio Valley Conference Player and Freshman of the Week for their performances during the week of 12/03 – 12/08.
Bruce Price is a 6-1, 185 lb, R-Jr. from Minneapolis, Minnesota. In three games last week Price scored game highs at No.15 Indiana (34) and Southeast Missouri (32). He also scored a team-high 21 in a 74-72 win at Eastern Illinois. In that contest he hit the game-winning bucket with four seconds left on the clock.
Price also led Tennessee State in rebounds (8) and assists (7) at Southeast Missouri. For the week he averaged 29.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 4.3 steals per game while hitting 49.1 percent (26-of-53) from the field and 77.1 percent (27-of-35) from the line. He was 10-of-15 from the charity stripe against Southeast Missouri, 10-of-12 at EIU and 7-of-8 at Indiana. It marks the first Player of the Week award for Price since Dec. 6, 2004; he has missed most of the past two seasons due to injury.
Bruce is averaging 26.5 ppg and 5.5 assists in Ohio Valley Conference games.
Gerald Robinson, Jr., is a 6-0 175lb, Fr., from Nashville, Tennessee’s Martin Luther King HS.
Robinson picked up his second Freshman of the Week award of the season after averaging 18.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.3 assists per game in a trio of contests. He hit 44.7 percent (21-of-47) from the field and 83.3 percent (10-of-12) from the free throw line. He scored 31 points on 11-of-19 shooting at Southeast Missouri, also adding four rebounds and three steals in that game. He scored 18 points in a two-point win at Eastern Illinois and had three assists and three steals at No. 15 Indiana.
Robinson is averaging 24.5 ppg in Ohio Valley Conference play.
