domrodgerscromartie.jpgTennessee State University senior cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, has been named to play in two post-season All-Star games in January, 2008. Rodgers-Cromartie has been selected to play in the East-West Shrine game in Houston TX on January 19, 2008 and the Senior Bowl All-Star game in Mobile, AL on January 26, 2008.

Dominique, a 6-2, 185 lb. product of Bradenton, FL, was a consensus first team pre-season All-American (FCS) pick, first team All-Ohio Valley Conference in 2006 and pre-season All-OVC in 2007 with six interceptions. He earned first-team All-OVC honors following this past 2007 season.

He always rotated to cover the opponent’s top receiver and was rarely thrown at during the early part of the 2007 season. When he was tested later in the year, he responded with two interceptions for TDs (69, 71). He finished the year with 11 pass break-ups, 37 tackles (28 solo) and 2 TFLs (8).

Additionally, “DRC” has returned 33 kick-offs this season for 806 yards and 1 TD, and 4 Punt Returns for 16 yards. Also finished the year with 4 blocked kicks (3 FGs and 1 PAT). Two FG and 1 PAT blocks were game-savers (Jackson State-FG, Austin Peay-PAT in OT, Murray State-FG). He had 2 rushes on end-arounds for 16 yards and 1 pass reception for 38 yards.

On the season “DRC” has 1,016 All-Purpose Yards (92.4 ypg).

A versatile athlete, he is the reigning OVC Indoor Track Champion in three events, the 60 yd dash (6.89), the long jump (25’-00.75”) and the high jump (6’ 09.50”). A sure NFL draft pick, (projected early 2nd round) his speed and height are sought after in cornerbacks.

The SWAC Page is now TSPNsports.com. We have slightly changed our format. While we still feature the 10 member schools of the SWAC, we have extended our coverage to include all HBCU athletic programs when possible.
