Mark Spivey, QB, Prairie View A&M (6-4, 210, Sr., Houston, Texas)

Spivey completed 8-of-19 passes for 180 yards for four touchdowns with a long pass play of 64 yards; also had seven carries for 22 yards.

Defensive Player of the Week
Zach East, LB, Prairie View A&M (6-2, 230, Sr., LB, Houston, Texas)

East tallied 19 tackles (seven solo) along with one forced fumble, 1.5 tackles for loss and a blocked extra point against Jackson State.

Newcomer of the Week
Afu Okosun, LB, Alabama A&M (5-8, 236, Fr., College Park, Georgia)

Okosun finished with nine tackles (five solo) along with one sack, 2.0 tackles for loss and two quarterback hurries against Alcorn State.

Specialist of the Week
Tim Manuel, K/P, Grambling State (5-11, 225, Sr., New Iberia, Louisiana)

Manuel averaged 41.1 yards on seven punts with a long of 59 yards while placing three inside the 20-yard line … also made two PAT kicks against Louisiana-Monroe.

Notables:

  • Thomas Harris, Alabama A&M – set AAMU single-game receiving mark with 201 yards on 9 catches
  • Jay Peck, Alabama State – 29 carries, 173 yards, TD – 6th 100-yard game of season; 11th of career
  • Ryan Burciaga, Miss. Valley State – 20-of-39 passing, 339 yards, TD
  • Brandon Averett, Alabama State – nine tackles (seven solo), INT, 2 PB, blocked kick
  • Robert Jones, Alabama State – five punts, 34.4 average, long of 42
  • Pedro Ventura, Prairie View A&M – eight punts, 39.2 average
  • Keefe Hall, Grambling State – 12 tackles
  • Cameron Russ, Miss. Valley State – 5 catches, 132 yards, TD
  • Idly Etienne, Alcorn State – 10 tackles (four solo)
  • Jimmy Oliver, Jackson State – 21-of-31 passing, 296 yards, 3 TDs
