PINE BLUFF, Ark.- The Prairie View A&M Panthers lost a hard fought effort to the Golden Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. PVAMU never led in the contest but fought back from a nine point deficit in the second half to close UAPB’s scoring margin to two points after a Calvin Harris touchdown run at the 9:41 mark of the fourth quarter.
Prairie View A&M committed two turnovers in the red zone which proved to be extremely costly. The Panthers dominated the Golden Lion’s defense holding the ball for 40:21 minutes but were only able to score 19 points in the contest.
After forcing UAPB into a turnover with less than two minutes left to play Prairie View A&M was afforded one last possession to take the lead. After a completed pass from quarterback Mark Spivey to Gabriel Osaze-Ediae the ball was stripped free with UAPB recovering to seal the victory for the Golden Lions.
For the game Prairie View A&M amassed 430 yards (169 R, 261 P) while Arkansas-Pine Bluff gained 190 total yards (76 R, 114 P). The Panthers will now look to capture their sixth win of the season as they host Jackson State this upcoming weekend at Blackshear Field. Kickoff time has been set for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November, 10.
