PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas- Prairie View A&M swept archrival Texas Southern in three games at the William Nicks building on Tues., Oct., 16th. Junior Ashley Campbell led the team with 12 kills along with 6 digs, while senior Milcah Whitaker contributed 19 digs.
PVAMU jumped out to a 16-9 lead in the first game after a strong spike by senior outside hitter Tamika Newman.
Texas Southern rallied to close within four points at 23-19 after a strong offensive surge. The Lady Tigers went on to add one more point, as the Lady Panthers closed game one on a 7-1 run, and subsequently won the game 30-20.Both teams played a highly competitive second game, with neither team gaining more than a one point advantage thru the first half of the game. TSU led 29-28 with a chance to win the game before an errant serve by the Lady Tigers that tied the contest at 29 all. The Lady Panthers regrouped and eventually won by the score of 31-29 after TSU’s Nicole Crane committed an attack error.Prairie View A&M took control early in the third game of the match and never looked back, taking it’s largest lead at 27-15. Prairie View A&M subsequently won game three 30-19, capping off a 3-0 game sweep of Texas Southern.
