CIAA Football Players of the Week- Week Six

Wilbur Miller, FR, FSU, OG, 6-2, 255, Winston-Salem, NC
Miller spearheaded the Broncos’ pass protection and open holes for the running back as FSU grounded out 505 total offensive yards (288 rushing & 278 passing). The Broncos ended a four game losing streak by soundly defeating Livingstone College, 58-20.

Receiver of the Week:
Bobby Wilder, JR, WR, FSU, 6-2, 185, Whiteville, NC

Wilder caught three passes for 128 yards and a touchdown as the Broncos
rolled over LC, 58-20.  Wilder had one carry for 15 yards, finishing the evening with 143 total offensive yards.

Offensive Back of the Week:
Isaac Redman, JR, RB, BSU, 6-0, 230, Paulsboro, NJ

Redman scored a career high four touchdowns and rushed for a game-high 184 yards, helping to lead Bowie State’s Bulldogs to a 41-30 victory over St. Paul’s in the 4th Annual Prince George’s Classic.
Defensive Lineman of the Week:
Karl Wimberly, SR., LB, ECSU, 5-11, 210, Ft. Lauderdale, FL
In the Vikings’ double overtime win over divisional rival Virginia State, Wimberly led ECSU with a team high 9 tackles (5 solo, 4 assisted) including one for a loss of a yard, a fumble recovery and an assisted sack for a loss of a yard.

Defensive Back of the Week:
Barry Dunn, JR., FS, FSU, 6-2, 182, Raleigh, NC

Dunn earned seven total tackles including four solo and a blocked PAT return for two defensive points in the Broncos’ victory.

Rookie of the Week:
Andre LeBlanc II, FR., DB, VUU, 6-0, 205, Lithonia, GA
This VUU Panther recorded 2 interceptions with 62 yards in returns against SAC. LeBlanc added 5 tackles and 2 pass break-ups to his record book.

Specialty Player of the Week:
Daniel Mendez, SO, Punter/Kicker, ECSU, 5-11, 190, Riverside, CA

In the Vikings’ 12-9 double overtime win, Mendez went 2-3 in field goals connecting on distances of 29 and 26 yards. He also amassed 224 yards on 7 punts (an average of 32.0) with a long of 45 yards; three landing inside the Trojans’ 20-yard line.

Coach of the Week:
Mike Lynn, Bowie State University
Coach Lynn kept his BSU Bulldogs unbeaten in the CIAA, coming from behind to beat the St. Paul’s Tigers 41-30.
