Recaps From Around the SWAC

It is safe to say that the 2007 version of Prairie View football is unlike the teams we have witnessed in past years. However, looking to improve their record to 3-0 against undefeated Southern, the Panthers lose in a low-scoring defensive battle 12-2.

SU’s Bryant Lee managed to throw for 144 yards and 1 TD, while backup quarterback Nick Benjamin threw for another.

The Advocate’s Joe Schiefelbein provides a complete game recap.

ALABAMA A&M STAYS ON THE OFFENSIVE

Who the hell left the gate open? Known over the years for their defensive schemes, it looks like the Bulldogs have created a balance with an offense that has averaged over 500 yards per game this season. That trend continued with a 31 point trouncing over Mississippi Valley 45-14. A&M remains undefeated at 3-0, while the Delta Devils sink to 1-2. Read about it.

BARLOW AND COMPANY DOES IT AGAIN

Coach Reggie Barlow and his Hornets continue to grind out wins beating Arkansas-Pine Bluff 12-10. Trailing Arkansas-Pine Bluff 10-6 with less than one minute remaining in the game, Alabama State quarterback Chris Mitchell connected with Fred Ragsdale on a game-winning 10-yard touchdown pass.

However, according to UAPB head coach Moe Forte, the officials cheated. Mike Marzelli of the Pine Bluff Commercial explains why.
