The Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Championship Sub-Committee selected Southern University and Jackson State University to host the 2008-2010 Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament.
Southern will serve as host for the 2008 Baseball Tournament and Jackson State University will serve concurrently as the baseball tournament host site for 2009 thru 2010. Southern University has been the only conference member to host the tournament in the past twenty years. Although the tournament has been held in the Jackson metro area in years past, 2009 will be the first time that the tournament will be hosted on the campus of Jackson State University.
“Our conference tournaments and championships are the highest level of competition that some of our student athletes may experience,” said SWAC Interim Commissioner Duer Sharp. “All of our institutions take pride in providing our student-athletes and fans with first-class events. When we combine the pride associated with competition along with the support of our athletic departments, I have no doubt that both Southern and Jackson State will be excellent hosts for future SWAC Baseball Tournaments.”
The 2008 SWAC Baseball Tournament will be held May 13-17 at the Jaguars’ Lee-Hines Field.
