The Tennessee State University men’s basketball team 2007-08 schedule will open with home exhibitions against Carson Newman (Oct. 26) and in-town rival Fisk (Nov. 6). The regular season will open with home match-ups against Cumberland (Nov. 9) and Georgia Tech (Nov. 12).

TSU will take to the road to play at Alaska-Fairbanks (Nov. 15) in the Top Of The World Classic November 15-18 with possible match-ups against Akron, Oregon State and Colorado State, among others. From Alaska, the Big Blue’s December road will see the Tigers play at Indiana (Dec. 3), Southeast Missouri (Dec. 6), Eastern Illinois (Dec. 8), Belmont (Dec. 17), Vanderbilt (Dec. 22) and Illinois (Dec. 30).

The January-February schedule puts the Tigers into the heart of their Ohio Valley Conference schedule and an ESPN Bracket Buster game, opponent and site (TBA), scheduled for February 23rd.

The OVC tournament is scheduled for March 4-8 at campus sites for the first-rounds and the Semifinals and final rounds played in Nashville.

During the 2006-07 season the Tigers finished with a 12-20 (8-12 OVC) record good enough for a spot in the OVC tournament first-round. Playing well at top seeded Austin Peay State the Tigers lost a heart-breaking 89-84 OT contest.

While returning three starters from last years squad, the Tigers will welcome the return of 6-3, 185 guard Bruce Price (19.3 ppg) who re-injured an ACL prior to the season. Price will return to the team as a junior in eligibility after receiving a hardship waiver for last season.

Coach Cy Alexander will look to blend in the talents of five new players that include; Gerald Robinson (6-0 G, Nashville, TN), Darius Cox (6-7, F, Monroe, NC), Dontrell Taylor (6-8, F, Irwington, GA) and JUCO players Stephen Evans (6-8, F, Atlanta, GA), Emanuel Gaither (6-5, S, Waukegan, IL).
