Did anyone get a chance to see the premiere of "The Bernie Mac" Show? I have to say that it was the first time I'd laughed out loud at a sitcom in a very long time; probably since the days of Martin.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I usually have a tendancy to "critique" shows and not really enjoy them for entertainment purposes. I have to say that I'm surprised that FOX allowed him to be "himself" w/out the cuss words. He was straight wild with those kids! I think I laughed the most when he was in the drug store with that sick little boy had to pee and in the second show when the little girl wanted him to play with her.
I thought the show was creative and it broke out of the "traditional couple with three kids mold". I hope FOX gives it a chance; although I don't think white America is ready for him just yet. But, who cares? For years we with put up with the crass antics of "Married W/Children", it's time for a Bernie Mac. Yeah, he talked a lot about "beating the kids down", especially when he said, "I'll beat you until the white meat shows". So, there may be a lot of folks who were offended with the violent references, but what he said was no different the what they do on South Park or The Simpsons.
I liked it because they let him be himself and he was funny as "L".
