Toyota recalls 22 vehicle models for equipment issues, increasing the risk of a crash

HOUSTON, Texas (WHNT) — Toyota recently announced a recall of 22 vehicle models for equipment issues and says customers will be notified in September.

On July 22, Toyota inquired about a potential safety recall on various Toyota models. The initial report stated that the number of cars recalled would be determined by cars with GST accessories that display ‘inaccurate added weight values on a load carrying capacity modification label.’

The report said vehicles possibly affected by this issue were produced from September 22, 2022, through July 1, 2024.

The initial report document describes the safety risk: “On the affected vehicles, the weight listed on the load carrying capacity modification label may be higher or lower than the actual total weight of accessories installed. In the worst case, a driver may unknowingly overload a vehicle, which may increase the risk of crash.”
