SWAC parity?

i mean are we suppose to wait on jsue to have a "good team"? who is the person who "officially confirms" that lol

...like i said a buncha bs rhetoric

You know what a "good" JSU team is. Just think about it for a second.

Also, we don't need a good team to beat AAMU...just a decent one will do. That has been proven time and time again.

dude its been 10 years since yall won a SWAC football title!

I think we will pass on your opinion of what is a "good team"

If you call losing to PV getting better...

What hurts them is their lack of talent (mainly) and poor coaching (to a lesser degree).

I guess you forgot about how you and your "all world" coach lost to us and UAPB, huh.

All we have to do is sit back, and just give you enough time, and you'll make a fool of yourself....AGAIN!!!

AAMU you are so defensive that you revert to calling people stupid, dumb and names period. Yet you provide no basis for your comments. yes TP getz a little over zelous but some of his statements are true.

I really have no ill will towards AAMU or Bama State but I've been around the SWAC/SEC all my life and I've witness great teams up close. Call me names all you would like but AAMU last year was a decent team. Not Great but decent.

JSU was in transition. An I've seen the term used on all levels when you change your staff.

I will not type or rehash what we all know. But how can other school objectively rate their teams and AAMU not.

You continue to jump on everythread and belittle JSU and anybody else who feels you were not a great team.

Towns is the reason you guys are winning and I respect him. You guys run a clean fundamentaly sound program that produces wins. I can respect that.

I wish you guys good luck along with the rest of the SWAC. Saturday get here now.

I thought about that and I remembered the Eddie Rob coached teams of my youth and college days. Coach killed people with those 3 and 4 yard gains by the fullback, a quick outside run or two by the tailback, a counter with the wingback ang finally coming back off the same look and throwing a pass for a big gain or score. People ranted and raved about the big passing plays (and they were important) but it was the steady progression down the field that made the GMEN hard to defend. Same thing with Pete when he first came into the league... his teams were fundamentally sound --run game, intermediate passes, and a defense geared to make you have to drive down the field. That last aspect was key because the SWAC had become a "big play" oriented league... Pete limited a team's big plays by controlling the tempo and defending to make sure your third down play was third and long. As frustration mounted...offenses pressed more and more and played right into Pete's hand. But he got "swacified" and changed his offense to the "racehorse" style that became in vogue. I think he and others are going back to a more conventional offense geared to emphasizing execution as opposed to excitement. Don't get me wrong...we will always have big plays in this league because we do recruit good skill position folk. But we just need to learn not to force things... win by getting the most out of each possession while forcing your opponent to dig a deeper hole by going for the big play.

Excellent post. This is the type of football that consistently wins on every level. It's the type of football that destroys us anytime we play PWCs. Football is about ball control, field position, and a favorable turnover ratio-- period. The rest is entertainment.

I shake my head in disbelief EVERYTIME I read that foolishness from you, tp or that kid that fawns over Kobe.

It simply amazes me.

Right and this is the game that Bell TALKED. Too bad he never walked the walk.

It simply amazes me how you never argue your point you just make coments like this. You amaze me because you guys know little about this conference and you come in with this talk of dominance since you arrived yet proof shows you have had decent teams who got thrashed just as many team have since 2002. I don't cosign any of Jay Robs or TP's info. I make my own comments. You on the other hand have yet to prove you have knowledge ofany kind and you show little value in these discussion.

Dude, I GUARANTEE you that I can start a thread here, on Onnidan and MEAC fans and ask if you were a good team last year and you would find very few to say that you were. We had a topic on HERE a few months ago about the best teams in the last 10 years and most agreed that your 2006 team would hardly make the top 20 whereas people did list the 2005 and 2004 champs at top teams. So again, this ain't just TP talking. This is how BCF views you. It ain't my fault.

Whether you want to admit it or not, TP is very objective. I have no problems telling AlaState that they had a good team in 2004. Before the season, I even said that they appeared to be head and shoulders above the rest. The same simply can't be said about AAMU. Honestly, I LONG for the day that AAMU and JSU get so good that it is almost a given that one of us will go to the SCG and the other to the playoffs.

TAHNK YOU!!!!!!!

Much like the pter and slam dunk messes up bball the Spread offense has done the same to Football.

Entertain STC with wins!!!!

You can't even differentiate between MD (Mighty DOG) and mh (mighty HORNET.) Surely you don't think anyone puts any stock in anything from you, do you? Make your own comments....yeah right! tp posts, and before he can type his last silly sentiment, you've quoted him and parroted everything he says.

And save that bullcrap about the "history" of this conference. When all else fails, you divert to that. Pity that "history" has done nothing for you lately. Hell, games played 20-25 years ago have meant nothing when the final scores flash on the scoreboard.

A profound statement from yet another nsm child. I see your school is out early for Labor Day.

You can go sit down now.

It still amazes me at the outright and shear IGNORANCE that is posted on this board from time to time. Whenever some school does well at any given time or in any given year(and it's not any one of the former big 3)........then the conf is all shot to "L".....IT'S A DOWN YEAR......or the only reason this school or that school won was because blah...blah....blah......this school should not have won because they have no talent (what a rediculous statement to make by people who supposedly know something about SPORTS???)

Believe it or not EVERY University within the SWAC has some very talented athletes. We may not know their names until we play them or they may not have been recruited out of H.S by any D1-D1AA or DII schools for that matter.
Robert Mathis was only recruited by AAMU....he never got a letter, a visit or a phone call from any other school..........but dam when he showed up as a freshman, the rest of the teams in the SWAC and the SEC found out quickly who he was and they found out he could play! UGA tried all they could to get him to transfer and come back to the State of GA.

Just because your team or my team has 1 or 21 D-1A rejects or transfers OR just becuse you were able to attract some big name athletes to your program.......there is no guarantee that one team is going to be better than the other. We use to be, we should be, we ought to or they ought to is just beatin' yo' gums about nothin' and is A POOR MAN's EXCUSE FOR FAILURE.

Finally, NO MATTER WHAT THE SCORE IS OR WHO YOUR COACH IS/WAS......YOUR OPPONENT ON ANY GIVEN GAME DAY WILL HAVE SOME IMPACT ON YOUR FINAL SCORE AND WILL HAVE SOME IMPACT ON THE GAME. I don't know of any schools out there who are going to roll-over for any other school no matter who it is.

There was parity in the SWAC last year. The "best" team was not exponentially better than the "worst" team. That's the definition of parity. I, however, would prefer parity with a higher level of achievement than last year. Our overall non-conference record was dismal. We need to improve our non-conference record this season. I just wish Alabama A&M posters would not take these statements as an attack on AAMU's accomplishments. AAMU was the champion and deserved the crown. But let's not pretend that last season was a strong season for the SWAC. I hope that AAMU and JSU can beat Tennessee State. I hope Valley beats North Dakota State. Southern beats Florida A&M. Alabama State beats Jacksonville State. UAPB beats Southern Illinois. These are the games we need to win or come close to winning and then I can feel good about parity.

A&M got better last year as the season progressed... imo, what hurts them is their impatience on defense. Unlike most teams in the league that look for the big play on offense, A&M seems to look for the big play on defense a bit too much. Personally, I think yall blitz too much...it's fine if it works, but can mean a huge gainer for the offense if it doesn't.

When A&M first entered the league, your defenses were aggressive but they didn't try to blitz regardless of down and distance every time yall needed a stop. It could be 3rd and 15 and you guys brought the house... that always caused problems for yall against Grambling cuz we can chunk the ball. Anyone that keeps leaving the back four in man coverage (especially when your blitzes are so predictable) is asking for trouble. Yall don't give an offense a chance to mess up by having to keep a sustained drive... the more plays an offense has to run to score, the more chances they have to turn it over or get a penalty that takes them out of scoring position.

Just my opinion...

Actually we don't blitz as much as you may think. Most of the defensive formations we use look like a blitz, but most of the time we drop out of them into to some form of nickle or zone coverage. We will have a specified pressure based on the formation presented by the offense on most plays. A double tightend formation will typically draw pressure in the form of a delay from the middle or outside linebacker who may be stemming off a lineman or another backer. This year we will have some subtle changes to some of our coverages that as the season progress will allow some of our younger players to grow up(protect them form the big play) in the defense. We still like to bring the pressure, it will just come from more directions than in the past.

This is sooooooooooooooooooo untrue. Since 1990, the SWAC champs have been JSU, SU, AlaState, Alcorn, AAMU and Grambling. No one has ever called a JSU, AlaState, Alcorn or Grambling champions weak. The weakest champions to date appear to be SU 1998 and AAMU 2006. Like it or not, no one is picking on AAMU....

...and what the hell does Robert Mathis have to do with this?

Folks can call it what they wanna call it.... 'Parity'. 'Down year'. Whatever. I just want my school to win as many games as we can. Whether or not the other team is good makes me no difference.

Can you say typo. I know who they are? Show me where I confused them and I'll show you a typo. MD is the guy born in a time Before Christ arrived. He sometimes make delusional comments and threads and wears a AAMU windsuit. He is the leader of you bull puppies.

MH is the guy who buys lucky hats at the Atlanta Swap meet and laughs at everyone's post. Funny thing everybody is laughing at him and his program.
Under the word Traditionless you will find a picture of MD standing in front of the Crampton bowl with a ASU Jersey on next to a member of the band.

Please oh please don't confuse us. Maybe Jay Rob called them out place but not the kid.

TOTAL BS!!!

could we clarify this first though..you nor anyone from Jsue speaks for everybody in the SWAC...

u seem to believe just because you throw some frivilous comment out there it is SWAC gospel!!!!
