Something to consider on the eve of my 43rd birthday...

Seeing Spots

Joyful Woman!
Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly
change things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's incoming freshmen.

Here's this year's list:

The people who are started college last fall across the nation were born in 1983.

They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had an answering machine.

They have always had cable.

They cannot fathom not having a remote control.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They never took a swim and thought about "Jaws".

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", or "deplane Boss, de plane".

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is.

Michael Jackson has always been white.

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

:eek2:

Seeing Spots,
I'm nowhere near 43 (or 33 for that matter)
and this made me feel old...

 :eek2: :(

This reminds me of a Poem:
"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light".
-Dylan Thomas

I will not go gently into the night...
I will rage against the dying of the light...
I didn't realize the generation gap was so big... already!

You know that's right!!!

Hell, they probably didn't know that typewriters used to be manual.

Dayum! 1983!

Was that the year Prince came out with Purple Rain?

If I'm not mistaken, the Smurf was the dance of the year.

Everybody wanted to be M.C. sumthin!

1983!

Never heard of Funkadelic, George Clinton (well, maybe), Cameo, Earth Wind & Fire, BarKays, GAP Band, ...

Never saw Magic Johnson and Larry Bird square off.

Never knew of Dr. J.

Never had a clue as to what Burger Chef was or the Manute Bol - Spud Webb meal deal.

Never knew about Buster Brown, Jordache jeans or Member's Only Jackets (unless Uncle Boo still has his).

Mannnnnn, the good ol' days...!!!

Wow...

Manual typewriters? Jordache/Calvin Klein/Braxton :snickle: jeans? IZODS w/ the green alligator? Members only jackets? Penny loafers w/ the SHINY penny in them? :snickle: Michael Jackson thriller jacket? :snickle: Rotary phones? "Flirt"/"Alligator Woman" was the song of the summer of '82 (I think)? *sigh* Smurf'n all across the dance floor? When dancing was an aerobic exercise w/ the Gucci/Guess, Smurf, pop-locking,...?

Rraaaa, I think Purple Rain was 1984 bruh. I VIVIDLY remember because we were flying those doves that cry in April/May '84 (I think). LOL

:lmao: @ Michael Jaxon always being white. ROTF
