Job Description
The Systems Development Engineering Center (SDC) within SAS Engineering is currently searching for a Senior Manager, Systems Engineering to lead the Strategic Systems Development Department, an organization of approximately 130 systems engineers located in El Segundo and Buena Park, CA. The department supports development of various RF sensor/radar systems within three SAS Mission Areas: Space Systems; Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems; and Advanced Concepts and Technology. The department manager is responsible for his/her department delivering systems engineering work products and services of the highest technical integrity and ensuring that department personnel are developing skills to provide the required efficiency, effectiveness, capability, and capacity to meet SAS business needs.

Responsibilities of the department manager include, but are not limited to the following:

· Understanding and executing SDC and SAS engineering strategies, developing and executing a supporting strategy specific to Strategic Systems Development Department.
· Driving technology development within the department, and executing product level technology roadmaps.
· Staffing and executing systems engineering program tasks owned by the department; ensuring quality, timeliness, and technical integrity of work products developed by department personnel.
· Leading systems engineering and multi-function cost and technical proposal development teams.
· Deploying process improvement initiatives; championing productivity initiatives, actively managing productivity metrics and driving improvement; ensuring compliance to Systems Engineering processes.
· Mentoring technical and supervisory team members.
· Managing performance development of the department, to include goal setting, career counseling, compensation planning, and employee training and development.
· Ensuring achievement of diversity within the organization.
· Frequently interacting with program managers, business development personnel, center management, and Program Area Chief Engineers to achieve the goals and objectives.
· Championing and sustaining R6S within the department.

Required Skills:

•Minimum of 12 years of engineering experience to include systems engineering leadership roles in either radar systems development or radar systems integration and test.
•Experience with the bidding process and proposal development
•Experience with various related tools, EVMS, IMS, & IMP for managing programs
•Experience with process improvement including CMMI, Six Sigma, or other methodologies
•Experience building relationships with Program Managers and Directors in order to negotiate in difficult situations
•Experience with staffing, strategic planning, career development, and resource allocation.
•Active DoD Secret Clearance (minimum), with the ability to obtain additional clearances or special access as required

Required Education (including Major):

•Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) in Math, Science, Engineering or related discipline.
