PV begins coaching search

Prairie View athletic director Charles McClelland on Monday announced that the university has begun a search for a new men's basketball coach.

McClelland said the process doesn't indicate there has been any disappointment in the performance of interim head coach Darrell Hawkins.

"No, not necessarily. We obviously wanted to see what coach Hawkins could do, but we wanted to give ourselves the opportunity to see what is out there.

"We wanted to explore other opportunities. It's not necessarily a reflection on what coach Hawkins has done."

One year is not giving him a chance. Did PV beat Grambling? The AD is talking out of the side of his neck. Everybody wants a quick fix for their hoops program;that's not going to happen in today's culture.

He was the interim coach, in Texas you still have to post the job and have interviews for it. It is now being posted and applications and interviews will be taken.

Exactly. Anyone who is "interim" knows that after the season applications and interviews will be taken. All he did was have a season long interview.
