A new partnership between Alabama State University and the YMCA of Greater Montgomery will bring a YMCA facility to the ASU campus, marking a historic milestone for both entities.

University and YMCA officials announced the collaboration during a press conference held today.

“Today’s announcement is a shining example of what we mean when we say ‘CommUniversity’ in both spirit and in action,” said ASU President Dr. Quinton T. Ross, Jr. “It’s a demonstration of how we as an institution are committed not only to educating students, but also to uplifting and empowering the community we serve.”

The YMCA will be housed in a renovated 5,000-square-foot facility near ASU’s Department of Communications building. The space will be dedicated to promoting health, wellness and community engagement.
