New Comer Of The Year Will Not Return To Prairie View

I read on another message board, the SWAC's new comer of the year, Thurston will not return to Prairie View for his senior year. If this is true, I don't see how PV can repeat as SWAC Champs.

Without Thurston, PV loses one of their two top returning players, if not their top returning player. Unless PV has the best freshmen class in SWAC history, there doomed to the middle of the pack next year.

I think you PV followers have some explaining to do.

Say it ain't so Panther Fan!!! We needed someone to attempt to matchup against Evans, Walker and Master P next season.

No Burks??? No Thurston??? Wait, you do have Riley.

the guy didn't start down the stretch anyway. He got us back on the map and we appreciate it but we'll recover. We don't rebuild, we reload now.

There's more where he came from

;)

as for Riley....have you all seen him lately? Man.....he'll have a field day on those 7-0 string beans at JSU and SU.

we might have a second place year but 2004-05 is shaping up to be monstrous.

It is true. We have known for about a month, now.

Mr. Thurston will not return for his senior season. We have some surprises that we believe will soften the impact of losing Mr. Thurston.

I am very confident that we will remain in the SWAC hunt for a championship run next seasn as well as a run for a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

At this point, in my opinion most SWAC teams will be young and with out a great deal of senior experience. As Coach "Wiz" Whitney, stated at the SWAC Basketball Media Day last year that it would be an interesting season and the conference Champion might end up with four or five losses because many teams have several seniors. In fact, he stated it was more than he could remember in long time in the conference.

I love it. Prairie View A & M University on the brain of several SWACPAGE posters.

The SWAC is still on the Clock!!

Ahhh, you better re-think that.

Bluedog,

Ahhh, you better re-think that.

I did say "most"!

I stand by my statement as I stated before last year season began when everybody though I was "drunk".

This is "not" the same old very little leadership, with out decent coaching, and no scholarship Prairie View A & M University Panthers that to many SWAC members have unfortunately gotten to use too over the last 10-15 years.

We Ready!! We Ready!!

The SWAC is still on the Clock!!

I'm giving you fair warning, I'm going to remind you of this.

BTW, why aren't you talking about the SWAC crown in football?

Just wondering :D

Please remind. Make sure you do not forget when things do not go in the direction you believe they will.

I am willing to talk about any issue that is posted or brought to the table in regards to Prairie View A & M University. Look under the post "question for Prairie View fans" about quarterback Mark Spivey a student athlete that we recruited, but signed with Southwest Texas State University to later leave and return to Prairie View A & M University.

We will be a better football team than in the past with the increase of scholarships to the maximum provided by the NCAA for Division I-AA football programs. I believe it will translate into several wins this season, but I do not expect our program to fight for SWAC Championship this season, but I think will determine a couple teams fate with an up-set or two in conference play.

I am looking forward to the following two years for our program to make a serious run at a SWAC Championship. Please remind me of this too. In my opinion, we are building the program in correct way.

Just wondering
No problem

I am sure your not a believer and doubter. In my opinion, the recent history of our past would dictate that. I believe in the plan that our university's leadership has finally commited to the athletics program.

That dude couldn't handle 6'6" Cliff Walker. That 7 foot white dude gone dog y'all boy out.

Riley is the sorriest big man in the SWAC.... all you have to do is go at him and he will foul you. He got 3 fouls in the first 2 minutes against AAMU... and ended up fouling out playing only about 10 minutes. Pettaway knows how to get him into foul trouble... he has used this same strategy for the last 2 years. He doesnt know how to play defense without fouling.

That was home cooking as usual., where 3 of our guys fouled out and another had 4.

But we fought thru it and still came out on top

didn't JSU have a 7-ft brotha who went 4 years without doing anything? If the white boy didn't put any numbers in JUCO against shorter talent, what makes you think he'll do the same? Byt the time he produces, he'll be halfway gone. what makes it worse, his team was sorry and they had two guys over 7-2.

Riley had his bad games but then when he shined, no one could stop him. He loved to kill SU and the only way TSU pulled the overtime game out was due t the fact that he was not there. Hopefully, with a few more big men in the SWAC this year officials will learn how to call a game with one. Their used to calling games with undersized guys and when they see a big man knocking folks out the paint, they panic.

homecookin, AAMU, and SWAC cant come close to being in the same sentence... Your two wild ass radio guys must have told you that. Pettaways strategy was to put our two sorriest big men in.. let them post up and go straight at him. We knew their shots wouldnt fall but Riley would hack the hell out of them. I was at the game.. dont believe everything them two clowns say on the radio. They are the WORST and most bias commentators I have ever listened to. Everytime their is a foul called on PV they are jumping up out of their chairs talkin about homecookin. I often wonder if they know the game of basketball.
