For the fourth year in a row, the staff at N.C. Central University?s Campus Echo will have to find more wall space for award plaques from the Black College Communication Association. http://www.bccanews.org/
Campus Echo adviser Bruce dePyssler and former editor-in-chief Mike Williams, traveled to Dallas Nov. 8 to accept the ten awards at the BCCA awards ceremony .
After giving a presentation on newspaper design to students from all HBCUs, Williams and dePyssler walked away with nearly double the number of First place awards from last year.
First place awards were: Best Biweekly Student Newspaper, Online, Photo-journalism, Sports Cover-age, News Coverage and Editorial.
Second place awards were: Best Online Newspaper, Design/Layout, Feature Story, Individual Photo and News Story.
The Echo will receive $500 from the New York Times for its best overall award.
?It?s always an honor to be recognized by professionals in the field,? said dePyssler.
?It validates all the hard work that our students put into their beloved Campus Echo.?
