Mergers and Consolidations

Loyalty & Respect
So, I was blessed with the opportunity to have breakfast with a well known former HBCU President this morning and we were talking about the the future of HBCU's. The conversation of mergers came up. She was pro-merger for schools that are surely going to die. Particularly the church affiliated schools. Her stance was that it made no sense for AME to run 5 or struggling schools. They might as well combine and create 1 solid school. She basically said that at some point, failing schools would have to make business decisions or die a slow death. In the business world, when your business is failing, you look for a buyer or a company to merge with.

She basically said what Mason was saying. She also said that no one is trying to listen to her and others that agree with her so that we will likely see more of our schools fail.
