In a close duel against Southern University, the Alabama State women's team won the 400-meter relay to edge the Jaguars and claim the Southwestern Athletic Conference Indoor title Sunday in Baton Rouge,La., on the campus of LSU. "It was very close and wasn't decided until the end," ASU coach Horace Crump said. "I'm real proud of our young ladies. ASU competes next at the South Alabama Relays beginning Saturday in Mobile. With that win, the ASU women have now won the SWAC Indoor, Outdoor and Cross-country championships. (What a feat) :tup:

Coach Thomas was protesting a questionable call against another school (Prairie View) to have them disqualified but he (as usual) overlooked the same instance against his team in the same race.
