Jontay Porter receives Lifetime Ban from NBA for gambling

Not trying to defend him ,but it's probably more an addiction/ illness. I really dislike casinos & completely passed on sports betting. Gambling is not my thing( outside of a few lottery tickets) , but it's sad how people get caught up in addictions.
Very good point man. I shouldn't have called him a dumbass without thinking about that. That could be very true.

Gambling addictions have devastated my family. My parents almost lost their house and I had two uncles lose their families.

What happened to this thing called responsibility in life? I mean it's not hard. Whew lawd no wonder the generations are getting weaker and weaker. Stop making excuses and just say I fuked up! The reason the first rule to getting over being a alcoholic and crack head at the meeting is saying "hi my name is John and I'm a crack/alcoholic" is because you're admitting Hi my name is John and I fuked up!

GOOD MOVE BY THE NBA!

It can't be said enough. Some people have to hit their bottom before they can face the truth about themselves. Hopefully, this is his. He now has to live the rest of his life knowing he forfeited millions.

I respectfully disagree.
Watching any game, whether pro or college (or one of the sports networks), you will be inundated with sports betting commercials from DraftKings, Fanduel, etc. And even when you're not watching a game, many ads are on your social media feeds, public billboards, transit vehicles, and elsewhere. I live in a state where sports betting has just become legal, and many TV commercials promote it daily.

You are absolutely correct. I do not disagree with any of this. Maybe I misunderstood what you meant when you said, "you can't escape it".

Awful. I've seen plenty of these stories with family & friends with casinos in particular . I think it's a positive tax base for a depressed area , but it can also ruin some lives . I don't get it & won't get started, but I certainly empathize with people that get caught up in this addiction.

I understand the NBA stance though.

I don’t have a problem with sports betting… its when you bet on your own team to LOSE.. that I see the problem.

Random but my uncle was the only starter at Tulane that didn't get caught up in the Hot Rod Williams point shaving scandal that killed their program back in the day
