HBCU Swingman Classic


The one thing the commentators keep talking about last night was the speed

Flores from ASU hit a single, advanced on a throwing error, stole third and then scored on a pass ball (which ended up being the GW run). Booker from Valley got some love as well

Having former HBCU MLB players as coaches and interviewing them during the game was a great idea

It looked great on TV seeing all those black baseball supporters on TV. Wherever the All-Star Game is next year has big shoes to fill after how Seattle showed up last night

The MLB All-Star Game in 2024 is in Texas at Globe Life Field. Should be an even bigger turnout there.

Dallas is a weird market - you basically have the standard HBCU events they'll show for and that's it so you'll have to have another fan base pull up the slack

further proof is how many HBCU football games have failed in that market - they are conditioned to attend the state fair classic and that's it

JagTil you Dead, you are so so right. That game was really fun. I saw great catches, brilliant base stealing, nice hits in that HUGE park. I just hate that advertising failed the game. Our band didn't come, but TSU repped both schools and it was fun watching them at the end of the game, they had me fired up for football that is coming up. I'm mad that the local Greek chapters didn't bring out more people and the schools alumni associations for all schools should have all had their own section, it was really a chance to show off HBCUs and the players did their part. I was excited to see quite a few youth there, but it should have been more. If we ever get a chance to host it again, I will do better and tell everyone and really work to get my alumni chapter here on board. Boo to the marketing of this game, but I'm too glad I went.
