These things are suppose to be the Rave of Chicago now. Would you eat them or be too offended by the name? Oh yeah, I had to look it up but giardiniera is like Italian pickeled vegetables.

Max's Italian Beef serves a dish called "Ghetto Fries", which are French fries covered in cheddar cheese, barbeque sauce, giardiniera, gravy and raw onions. It is the restaurant's most popular dish.

I would get one along with 2 of those Italian beefs and a red pop.

If you are gonna be niggerish, go all the way.

This is where I stopped reading.
Aside from the name being total offensive to me, the Fries themselves are a HEART ATTACK waiting to happen!!!!

Add this to the Burger King breakfast sandwish.

Ill pass.

Italian Beefs are cool, but because of the fries, I wouldn't purchase on from this establishment. The nerve of other cultures I tells ya. But guess what, I am not suprised. I knew it was white creation before I clicked on the link. Did you all read the captions of the remaining slides? :smh:

There were areas of cities called ghettos, and Blacks weren't allowed to set foot in them. If I'm not mistaken, Italians lived in them. Jews did, too.

I wouldn't eat them because of the content. The name has nothing to do with it.

You beat me to it. You forgot about the Irish as well.

I don't see what the problem is, I don't know too many "ghetto" blacks ordering barbeque sauce on their fries, nor that dayum g Italian herb/spice either. Now if they were fried in yesterday's, or old chicken, or fish grease then maybe I could see the ghetto corillation (sp), but not with all that schit on em.

NICE

I beleive the word "GHETTO" was coined for large amount of Jewish peoples in a community that lived together (then Minorities in general, most popular with Blacks later). Nowadays when you say "GHETTO" its most associated with African Americans.

The name is still offensive TO ME .

You know some folk just make a big ado about nothing. Shoot, I would've been offended if I had driven all the way there and found out what was on the fries! Now if they had cheese, sauce, and some ground beef or somma that I talian beef chopped up on them then ummmm, ummmm! But raw onions??? :shame: :vomit: :vomit:

And Nice, I like BBQ sauce on my fries bruh....

Man that really just looks like some slop. But as others have stated ghetto is not a term exclusive to blacks....we just throw it around alot. You would have to know the origin of the dish and meaning behind the name before getting offended.

Hmmmm....being offended by the meaning behind a words usage vs the word itself...now thats interesting. If only we could apply that to other words.

Correct, Teacher. Jews were in the ghetto. The ghettos of Warsaw for example.

Dang...

From the way some of y'all are talking on here,

I wonder if you wouldnt' eat Chili Cheese Fries either. :look:

But aye...I'D try it! :D

Minus the raw onions, though...;)

Oh well...Y'all too "healthy" for me.
I guess soul food is outta the question as well, huh?

Hey B E, I'll just add you, and Fort to those "not too many" folk that I know that like's BBQ sauce on their fries.

It's rare occassion for me that I put anything but salt on mine, and if they're not hot, I don't eat them anyway.

NICE

U know u wanna call us ghetto - it's ok, go ahead! It started w/E & L's Bar-B-Que in Jackson. Their fries used to automatically come w/sweet bbq sauce. I don't care for ketchup on my fries & don't like them "drenched" in ANY sauce. I prefer to dip.

Kellis, I like Blue Cheese on my fries too.

Fort, even though you'd be one of the people I chose to handle some bidness for me, I don't think you're ghetto. Actually far from it, after all somebody had to put BBQ sauce on chicken, ribs, hamburgers, and the like.....so why not fries? You are just a rare breed of people that I know of who do it.

NICE
