KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer said Thursday the university was continuing its investigation into several fights between football players and a fraternity at a party over the weekend.

No charges have been filed, but Tennessee reserve linebacker Daniel Brooks, a junior from Jackson, was named a suspect in the assault case.

"We're still investigating all the things that happened. We're getting great cooperation from both sides. We're cooperating with the fraternity and the student conduct folks. It's the student conduct's job to get to the bottom of it, and we'll go from there," Fulmer said after drills on the first day of spring football practice.

Witnesses told police there was fighting between the football team and Omega Psi Phi fraternity. Responding officers said they saw at least four fights early Saturday outside the University Center on campus.

A student, whose jaw was broken in a fight outside, told police he saw Brooks punch one of his fraternity brothers during the party in the University Center ballroom. Fulmer would not discuss Brooks' alleged involvement. Brooks was present at Thursday's practice.

"I'm not going to talk about that," Fulmer said.

The coach would not say how many players were at the party.

In December, Brooks also was accused of punching someone in the face at an off-campus party that turned into a brawl. No charges were filed, and the case was dropped after the victims said he didn't want to prosecute, police said.
