Just to offer some insight... There is a misconception that the FCS Top-25 dictates the FCS Playoff bids, which is not true. The Top-25 polls are only one of multiple things the committee considers, along with the Massey Ratings, SOS, etc.
- SE Louisiana holds the tiebreaker over UIW, which means SE Louisiana will get the auto bid for the Southland and UIW will be an At-Large bid
- The OVC will come down to a coin toss since UT Martin & SEMO both are undefeated in conference and did not play each other. If UT Martin wins the coin toss then that hurts FAMU because UT Martin does not have the resume for an at-large bid and SEMO will get an at-large over FAMU. So FAMU needs SEMO to win the OVC coin toss on Sunday.
- Also FAMU needs Mercer to lose convincingly to Samford this weekend because if the Bears upset Samford then the SoCon will get 4 teams in and pretty much end FAMU's chances
- Then FAMU needs both Montana & UC Davis to lose this weekend. UC Davis will be an at-large bid if they upset Sacramento State this weekend and Montana will also be an at-large bid with a win over Montana State. Both are probably out with a loss and that opens up 2 spots for FAMU to sneak into the playoffs.
- There is also the debate between Fordham & FAMU for the final At-Large bid. Fordham will also be 9-2 with their only losses being to an FBS team & a 1-point loss to #6 Holy Cross, which is a better loss than the 50-point loss that FAMU has to Jackson State. Fordham is also ranked 12 spots higher in the Massey Ratings, which are strongly considered by the Massey Ratings. FAMU's SOS is 105th in the country, while Fordham's SOS is 75th. FAMU will need a lot of help on Selection Sunday
