Edwards defeats Broome in Baton Rouge mayoral race

In his book The Destruction of Black Civilization, Chancellor Williams talked about how Europeans fought each other and Africans fought each other during the Transatlantic Slave Trade. However, when the Africans fought each other, the European stopped fighting each other and joined together to fight the Africans. Hence, the slave trade continued, and eventually colonialism came.

I have not been to Baton Rouge in about 17 years and have not spent any significant time there years before that. Therefore, I am definitely not up to date on the latest details on Louisiana politics.

Yet, these divisions have been destroying us in what is now the U.S. since 1619. I will not say that every Black politician needs to stay in office. Some need to go. Yet, as a person who sees a glass half full, I am afraid that it will be a while before we really come together.

Gentrification has been happening in Atlanta for quite a few years (two decades maybe). I feel that next year's mayoral race could be interesting (Atlanta City Council).

Voter turnout is HORRIBLE. We are so focused on getting people registered to vote...but getting them to actually vote is the real problem.
