The Dallas Metroplex Council of Black Alumni Associations (DMCBAA) celebrates 15 years of service and outreach in D/FW.

To commemorate this milestone, an anniversary banquet will be held featuring guest speaker Ambassador Leonard H.O. Spearman, Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The purpose of the anniversary banquet is to acknowledge the impact of this organization in the community and throughout the country. The commitment on behalf of Ambassador Spearman demonstrates the DMCBAA's dedication to enhancing the visibility of historically black colleges and universities within the DFW Metroplex and throughout the country.

By year end, DMCBAA will have awarded nearly $23,000 in scholarships over the last 6 years. Since its inception, DMCBAA has hosted a multitude of college fairs, networking events, golf tournaments, bowling contests and other fundraisers to benefit students interested in matriculating at an HBCU. There are twenty HBCU's with local alumni association chapters in the metroplex. These institutions represent over 4,000 alumni of historically black colleges and universities just in the metropolitan area! The event is open to the public- not just graduates of our member institutions.

The 15th Anniversary Banquet will be held on December 7, 2002. The reception will begin at 6:30pm and the program will begin at 7:30 pm at the Harvey Hotel located at 1600 North Central Expressway in Plano. The tax-deductible tickets are $40.00 each.

For ticket information, contact the DMCBAA (972-412-5169 or DMCBAA@netzero.net) or Jearlene Miller, Chairperson, (972-277-9576 or email jgmiller@airmail.net).

This was really nice. Ambassador Spearman brought a good message, even reminding us why the White House Initiative on HBCUs came into existance.

Peace!!
