I remember when those two guys just had this a pipe dream and started a kick starter back in 2016 and it failed. They kept working and now they reached over their full funding goal with $10 million. The game is basically a trial run. The NCAA basically said show us you can make a quality game and yall get the license. This game will be fully custom so you can put any school you want on there.

I’ll take it. Hopefully it’ll lead back to NCAA. Was a blow when they stopped that, but in a way it might’ve been needed.

So let's face it, we're all going to wait for the game nerds to customize all the teams and create the rosters to get as close to an NCAA game as possible. lol

Might actually make me get back into gaming if I can play with Alcorn.

the WORST football game EVER created.... its worst than 10 yard fight on the 1st Nintendo!

Super Play Action Football on the Super Nintendo was pretty bad as well. The only good thing about it was you could play as a high school, a college team and an NFL team.

Why would a HBCU team will be included? It's a FBS video game. I'm sure if they use the bands , they will be compensated
From my understanding some FCS schools will be include in the game (not on release), but more than likely a paid DLC. There is a pricing tier for what the schools will get paid for being in the game and it is really not that much money based on what the game might make. EA has already contact FCS schools to send into certain data to them like songs their bands play, jerseys, and stadium photos. One things that came out is that 4 HBCUs are trying to claim Neck, but in my view only Norfolk State should be the one school to claim neck since it was first arranged and played by them.

If HBCUs (players and bands) are gonna be in the game, they need to be paid for it as well

They will not be paid much as the school and the players because EA is doing a tier system when it comes to payment for players and schools, as I think the licensing will be done via CLC for schools and players. Below are the tiers for the schools as reported by Matt Brown (I believe a lower tier will be created for FCS schools and FCS players might not be included in the game, but rather have random generated players those schools):

  • Tier 1: $104,900
  • Tier 2: $62,900
  • Tier 3: $41,900
  • Tier 4: $10,400
I can imagine EA creating a player pack for popular fcs players in the FCS but people would have to pay for it. The reality is I don't think all the teams are going to have actual players and the bulk of all of the teams with be random generate characters unless EA and CLC can get players to signs the rights over for free or the cheap (which it seems some players are willing to do).

Because I wouldn't have said what I said without having actual info (below)

It's been posted on here and Facebook that EA has contacted the SWAC and MEAC about inclusion in the game. That has been confirmed

One Teams Partners is going to be handling getting the players name, image, and likeliness in the game rather than CLC. Players have to opt into being in the game from what is being reported this week. From what it looks like is not all players will get the same treatment, as some players will get their likeliness scan into the game and then others will just have their name in the game. It is going to be interesting to see how they are going to include FCS teams in the game. Would it be separate mode that includes the FCS Playoffs or would be a situation where FCS schools have to get a winning record in order to be invite to a FBS conference. Either way I am looking forward to the game release.

HBCUs need to be in this game, hopefully they get their due.

Unless the game is trash it is almost a lock in that FCS schools will be included in the game, but the question is when. From the looks of it there is talk that the FCS schools would be added close to a year after the game is released. If this is true then it would appear the EA College game is going to have a every other year release model or a continuous update model rather a new game every year like Madden. The fact that they have already reach out to FCS schools, including HBCUs, it a good sign. The question becomes will the HBCUs capitalize on their inclusion in the game, as being in the game is not going to bring in a whole lot of money to any of the schools in the game based on the tier payout pricing listed for the schools.

I think HBCUs need to take this chance to standout with their inclusion into the game by either creating new exclusive uniforms as promotion for the game or some other marketing campagin that makes the HBCUs stand up out more than the other FCS schools. Based on what people have seen with the NFL DC teams was going through their renaming process it is that you have plenty of artists that would do a new uniform design for free. I like how ECU did their re-design of the unfiroms by incorporating the design from all the past uniforms into one new design. Given our HBCUs rich history a design like that would be great.
