Birmingham music director who revived Miles College band dies at 87

Arthur Means founded the music program at Carver High School in 1959, then revived the marching band at Miles College after retiring in 1996.

He was one of the pillars of the historic Birmingham Black High School Marching band community...I remember growing up seeing him at classic parades and learning who he was cause his bands always sounded good...

Would loved to have had him over at Da'House but he probably would have left frustrated like the rest dealing with the administration over there NOT supporting the program. UGH. I digress....

R.I.P., brother. You did an amazing job over at Miles. I am sure you will be missed.
