DALLAS, Texas | With the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular season at the halfway point with the conclusion of the SWAC West Roundup, Alabama State finds itself atop the standings after winning 10 of their 12 matches including a perfect final day of the tournament.

Alabama State (36-28, 10-2 SWAC) entered the day just one game back of the win column, but reeled off four consecutive wins on Sunday to take a one-game lead over both Jackson State and Prairie View A&M. The Lady Hornets are five games clear of the fourth-place team, Texas Southern, in the standings through the first 12 matches of the season.

The Lady Hornets started the day off with a resounding 868-689 victory over Grambling State, before following that up with an 849-785 victory over Southern. The third match of the day saw Alabama State defeat Texas Southern 813-883, before they ended the Roundup avenging an earlier loss in the tournament to Alabama A&M with a 938-857 win over their in-state rival to take the lead in the conference standings.
