APR

Better be careful with all of those transfers.

Current media darling, Jackson State University is chugging along with a respectable APR after an influx of transfers last year. This is a number to be monitored for the next couple of years.

The MEAC conference is looking good with all teams above the required APR, however, current MEAC and Celebration Bowl Champion, South Carolina State is just one point above being championship eligible. South Carolina State will surely look to improve that number with its increasing athletic exposure.

It's not all good though. SWAC schools Arkansas Pine Bluff, Prairie View and Mississippi Valley are just barely making the cut. The SWAC inherited more than just some MEAC teams in FAMU and Bethune-Cookman but also some MEAC issues.

SWAC members Bethune-Cookman, Alabama State, and Florida A&M are in gross violation of the threshold to compete in championships.

While FAMU was allowed to compete in the FCS playoffs last year, it's likely that had the NCAA not suspended punishments that FAMU would not have been able to participate.

Post Covid, it's quite obvious that FAMU, Bethune-Cookman and Alabama State are gonna have to step things up. Football isn't all recruitment, it's retention as well.

Teams must earn a four-year average APR of 930 to compete in championships. Typically, teams that scored below the benchmark would have to face penalties that encourage an emphasis and prioritization on academics.

However, due to the current penalty suspension in place, teams will not be subjected to penalties this year. Last year, APR data was not released publicly, and penalties were not assessed.

Valley football has primarily JUCO reliant since Dancy took over so graduating them hasn't been the issue. It's those high schoolers that were in the program from Comegy that has kept us around that 930 area. Not in trouble but definitely could improve

It's in basketball (men's) where we gotta get better. We got not only Payne's recruits on the clock but now Hunter's recruits as well. Gonna be a few years before we straighten that ship out (plus upgrading at AD of compliance doesn't hurt compared to that sorry SOB we had before)

You wish.
I dont wish bad on any HBCU and I want a strong FAMU for the SWAC but how (mathematically) can you improve that score? Even if you get a 1000, you still fall short. This year is your last pass. Also, your single year just reported was like a 860. One of your best scores (940 I think) rolls off. So your average is about to get "worser" not better.

He dont understand how math works. They're a Public Administration or Political Science school.

Prior to the recent APR FAMUs last score was 931. JSU was averaging 970 but dropped 23 points. I am certain the transfer portal is a contributor. Another 23 point drop puts JSU below 930. The recent score is for 1 year, it is not an average. And, you don’t know how FAMU performed during 2021-2022.

We are going to see if you know how the math works if JSU drops another 23 or more points for 2021-2022.

The difference between JSU and FAMU is that our number dropped because Coach Prime cut 80% of the team. What is yall excuse. We shouldnt see that big of a drop this year because very few kids left and those that did went to other programs. That does not affect your APR.

Also, unlike FAMU, JSU led all of FCS, not HBCUs in APR before last year. So we had a little cushion to drop. Again, your highest score ever rolls off the 4 year average next year.

You may not know average score vs single year score. FAMU never averaged 931. You barely ever even scored above 931 to even have that high of an average.

FAMUs multiyear 2018-2019 APR is 931. According to the APR data base the score is a multi year score which is a rolling average. I would like to know the FAMU 2019-2020 multiyear score which was not released to the public which is the year that football season was cancelled. Also, the annual single year scores should be provided. I understand that if the multiyear average decreased then the single year score decreased as well.
If JSUs multiyear average for 2020-2021 is 950 a decrease below 930 for 2021-2022 could result in penalties if the NCAA does not revise the APR policy.

Dude that goes for ANY school. LOL The bottom line is we are 50 AVERAGED points ahead of yall. You cant compare us to yall. It will be hard for us to drop below 930 average this year. Now if our single year does drop by a lot this year, then our average might sit right around 930 but I doubt that it drops below. Our roster is a lot more stable now and we have the best compliance staff in the conference. BAR NONE!

I have seen yall multi year scores. You all have been over 930 only three times. Im trying to see if I can find them. Maybe they were on the MEAC board.

FAMU Scores

2004-2005: multi-year 832
2005-2006: multi-year 862
2006-2007: multi-year 878
2007-2008: multi-year 906
2008-2009: multi-year 939
2009-2010: multi-year 925
2010-2011: multi-year 922
2011-2012: multi-year 903
2012-2013: multi-year 885
2013-2014: multi-year 887
2014-2015: multi-year 897 / single-year 920
2015-2016: multi-year 918 / single-year 940
2017-2018: multi-year 923 / single-year 904
2018-2019: multi-year 931 / single-year 925
2020-2021: multi-year 901 / single-year 868

You could probably do a lil algebra and figure out the 19-20 score (my math say around 907) but they need to just totally toss that score for ALL schools.
Yall been bad forever. But again, that 940 rolls off and wont able to help you. That 904 and 868 hurts your rolling average!

The fact that every school should tighten up is the point that I am making. Your focus should not be on FAMU’s APR score but on meeting or exceeding the APR standard which JSU is currently only 20 points above. Now when I found out about FAMUs 901 APR score I was not happy even though I knew the pandemic and the transfer portal contributed to the score.

Now post JSUs scores using your algebra so we can see your individual scores.

Looks like the 2016-2017 score is missing.
But anybody who can add multiply and divide and figure out these numbers...lol

2017 = ~955 (no longer counted)
2018 = 904 (wont be counted next year)
2019 = 925
2020 = ~907
2021 = 868

So even if yall get 1000 in 2022, your average is only 925. :(

The focus is on FAMUs scores because you are arguably the #2 program in the conference and likely will be banned from the post-season next year.
