Well! consider an Alabama lost to LSU, Florida and Tennessee. Auburn will also give Bama a challenge this year with the six foot plus African American brother that looked good in the game against Ball State.

The "conventional wisdom" around here is that Watts "gives you the fewest mistakes"
and the best chance to win, keeps the chains moving. Franchione supposedly decided to be more conservative and stay basic on offense and let Torbush win the game with traditional physical Alabama SEC style defense.
Didn't happen. UCLA is a very physical team themselves and really just flat beat Alabama/the SEC at its own game that we here in the deep south take so much pride in (especially white folks and white schools at all levels); bear bryant/pat dye smash-mouth football.
trying to run the option on a team that's just as physical and talented as you is like trying to run the option in the NFL; JUST AIN'T GONNA BE SUCCESSFUL, and you are going to get PUNISHED! Watts did.
I think Franchione committed to going the conservative route in going with Watts instead of stretching the field and raising the risk of a shootout with Zow.
Of coarse like when Birmingham and every big inner city was left for dead they send in the black man to save the day under tremendous almost incermountable odds. Enter Zow.:idea:
Dude almost pulled off a Florida type miracle. Dude shook off the near sack, bought some time and hit Millens with an 75 yard BOMB
,,,, uh-but sustained a concushion on that late hit. I believe Zow would have at least put the ball in the endzone for a jump ball.
It's amazing how you got a black QB at Auburn and there's no controversy.
I hope Zow goes on to play at the pro level, but it will be hard not having been groomed properly at Alabama.

I will be back for more. But I was wondering about just what you said. Yet, I could not believe what I saw on Saturday. That conservative 'Bama offense will only get them about 17 points per game unless they play Vandy.
Understand this. UCLA now can play smash mouth football. Remember they got smashed from a team from the midwest and the south? Also, in addition to playing smash mouth football, those midwestern and southern teams could also throw the ball. A lot of times the Bruins would lose. It looks like in a way the Tide will become another college version of the Tennessee Titans. As long as the Titans have that conservative offense, they will not win the Super Bowl nor will they beat Baltimore this year.
If one has the players, like Zow, one has to use them.
