7000 at Fayetteville State!

That is not a surprise given that Fayetteville State is an NC Promise School and their cap, for outside of state students, was lifted to 25%. Other public HBCUs cap was lift to 25% as well, except for ECSU (which was given a cap of 50 percent). NC Promise caps in state tuition for students to $500 for each semester for in state students and $2500 each semester for out of state students.

The only downside to being a NC Promise school is that you can't raise students fees in support of things like athletics. When ECSU became a NC Promise school their athletic budget took a slash of 75 percent. The school had to find funds else where to make up for the hit like going to the City Council, which is majority black now, to have the tourism commission provide some funding to athletics. The other thing that is going to be a big help is that all public colleges and universities in the state of North Carolina will be getting money from sports betting to their athletic department.

ECSU is looking at building a hotel in the future and hopes it will provides revenue to the school and athletic department. There been a long standing issue with Alumni and Support over price gouging by the local hotels during ECSU's homecoming.

I think all the HBCUs in the state of North Carolina have seen an increase in enrollment except for WSSU, I believe.
