SMH at what this Negro will say and do for the oppressor.

On April 15, 2026, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was the guest speaker at the University of Texas at Austin to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Justice Thomas, the Supreme Court’s longest-serving justice, urged Americans to revisit the philosophical foundations of the U.S. governance.
Thomas told the audience that the values embraced by America’s founders have “fallen out of favor “ in recent decades. He urged younger generations to stand up for the principles that laid the foundation for the United States 250 years ago.

Thomas maintained that many contemporary political movements are a departure from the U.S. Constitution’s original meaning.
"I think if we don’t stand up and take ownership of our country, and take responsibility for it, we are slowly letting others control how we think and what we think," Thomas told the audience.
"Progressivism seeks to replace the basic premises of the Declaration of Independence, and hence our form of government.”
"It holds that our rights and our dignities come not from God, but from the government," Thomas said. "It requires of the people a subservience and weakness incompatible with a Constitution premised on the transcendent origin of our rights.”

Just the sight of him makes me want to puke.

Some of the founding principles of the USA was not good and thus that is why the constitution has been amended multiple times and different laws have been past by Congress to improve this country (including 1865 and 1965 Civil Rights Acts).

Based on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas speech in Memphis to the National Bar Association of Black Lawyers, about a decade ago, he does not believes in evaluating the progress of black people by looking at groups stats. He believes in individual success and not factoring in what individuals had to go through to succeed.

He has used his position to enrich himself and some of his family members.

How about aside from Anita Hill-most folks don't know a thing about Clarence Thomas.

Trump getting into office was the worst thing to happen as it is getting his aired out way too much now.

He can believe folks can pull themselves up by the bootstraps but he needs to look at what folks go through to do that. Policies change to protect some of those paths.

Do you really think Clarence believes that boot strap B/S he espouses? To shift from being an acolyte of the black panthers, one that zealously challenges a racist system, to one that zealously functions as a gate keeper for a racist system indicates he has no principles at all.

Clarence is a sell-out. Racist activist, legislators and jurist needed a black person on the high court to provide a permission structure to turn the clock back, and in him they found their man.

He has nearly undermined everything men like Thurgood Marshall and Charles Houston did to advance black people, including his lost behind.

While Clarence Thomas was not known by the general public at large, he was known factor in legal circles and those who follow the courts. He was well known enough that as soon as he was brought up as a possible person to take Thurgood Marshall spot on the supreme court, it was met with a negative reaction coming from the majority of black legal community and the black congress members.

I think people, at that time, knew how he would vote on civil rights and discrimination cases and thus there was an attempt to sink his nomination (even before the sexual harassment claims). Clarence Thomas almost pulled his own nomination, as republicans were getting pressure to drop him and because of the fight democrats were putting up against his nomination. What change things was Clarence Thomas high tech lynching speech, which pulled in enough support to get his nomination to succeed (even among black people - generally speaking). I feel long term it was a mistake for people to stop fighting his nomination, as we have seen the consequences of Clarence being in on the supreme court.

The flip side to this is that Clarence Thomas over the years have helped black judges move up the ranks of the federal courts system. His recommendations and support blind sided most of those judges, who's views and opinions often clashes with Clarence Thomas views and opinions. What this means, to me, is that Clarence Thomas knows that pulling oneself up by boot strap is bullshit in the context of fighting anti-black discrimination (as he saw this first had living in South Carolina and at Harvard).

Last thoughts: Clarence Thomas is more than likely is going to die while still on the supreme court and while he will be celebrated by Republicans as "Black Excellence and Example to the Black Race", but he will be viewed as a selfish man that put self interest above all by a large section of the black population. Damn, I hate that this man is from the Carolinas and Gullah Geechee.
