2025 MEAC-SWAC Challenge: North Carolina Central vs Southern Game Updates - 6:30pm CT


When the dust settles.....SU will win the West and play for the SWAC Championship. We will install a "real" QB in Jalen Woods and use McCoy in special situations as he is really a running back. We will "out-talent" most of the SWAC but the question is can we overcome poor OC and DC and Special teams coaching against "quality" opponents such as ASU-JSU-FAM. Time will tell.

This mentality is precisely why SU is unlikely to reclaim a championship title. Relying on a lackluster and predictable offensive and defensive coordinator is not a sound strategy, yet we are expected to adopt a wait-and-see approach.
Is it really that hard to actually go outside THE SWAC and find someone that knows what they are doing.

Just looking in to see if this the QB SU people said is miles ahead of Jamari Jones when I suggested he was the best QB on their roster

Time will tell. I know this, NCCU has a good team and will score points with that veteran offensive line and those running backs and that qb is good. I am not a Southern groupie, but first game against an experienced offense is tough.

Stop making excuses for them people 😆. They are the same team we saw last year with a mediocre offense and an a little better than average defense. All that talking and still can't be@t any team with a winning record.

I am not making excuses, NCCU would knock off a few SWAC teams this early in the year.

Bruh, did we watch the same game last night? How y'all gone win the West?! Folk from Alcorn and Gram were clowning y'all during the game.

Your OC is Mr Predictable. I don't know what to say about your DC other than the defense looked too suspect vs the run and against a mediocre passing game. Earning a penalty while backed up to your 17 yard line on a punt?! Pee wee kids know to sprint to their spot on a punt formation. TF?!!!!!! smh
 
Whoever that defensive coordinator is, he should've been fired before the game even started. That had to be the most ridiculous secondary coverage I've ever seen. And then they brought him down to the field after halftime only for him to call the same coverage. Honestly, the score should've been a LOT worse. You could just tell NCCU was the more polished and better coached team. Their offense could do basically whatever they wanted.

You saying they would a couple swac schools is not saying. Half of them got brand new coaches so i would expect it. I wanted Southern to win this game, i picked them but this was horrible coaching.
 
Southern's AD and Terrence Graves need to both be removed. Banks has made too many bad hires at SU. I can only wonder how he's stayed at SU for so long. SU is a job with too many cooks in the kitchen to the point where they won't give full control to a coach since Pete Richardson left. Let me be clear I think Graves could have full control and he'd still be a bad head coach. No adjustments. No sense of urgency in the play calling when trailing. Bad offensive and defensive play calling. Questionable player disciplinary measures. And, outright mismanagement of player personnel (Holly could've gotten the ball a whole lot more and the starting QB Kamron isn't a real QB. The backup should be the starting QB).

Lastly, and this may sound mean but I don't believe a university should hire a football coach that looks like Graves. He's too big and being big like that gives off that you are undisciplined. So, how can you represent a university in a profession that demands physical fitness and discipline? You can't.

Folks making excuses for su when football has to be played for 60 mins with every team whether they are playing a veteran team or not. NCCU is good but they are also beatable form what I saw.

How do you as a grown man miss the bus for the first game of the season. Jalen Woods might not be the guy if he can’t take care of the little things like getting on the bus for a game.
