To be considered 'wealthy' by Bay Area standards, you need a net worth of at least $5.1 million, financial firm Charles Schwab found.

I remember a news story a few years back about Bay area schoolteachers who couldn't afford to live in SF and Oakland where they taught because home prices and rent were so high.
