Tomeka Reed's future at JSU

I can’t make it make sense for you if you have a closed mind. Your opinion seems to be Coach Reed has had a great three years. Let’s not forget some player received an extra year due to COVID. Therefore, those good players hung around an extra year to pad her record. Some of y’all act like she is the greatest coach in SWAC history. Does her out of conference record compare with her conference record? I’m not sure because I don’t keep up with here that close.

This whole comment is stupid. People give you facts and you still typed this bs with the utmost confidence like you even know wtf you’re talking about. Y’all never cease to amaze me 😂

Clearly.. otherwise you wouldn't state such lunacy. You are the one that's operating with a closed mind instead of looking at exactly what's in front of you. Every team in the conference players received an extra year due to Covid. Let's not forget that Fact. Let's also not forget that one of the most important aspects of being a great coach is recruiting. Which she's done a great job at so far and on paper will have a better team this upcoming season. Pinebluff had the POTY from 2019 on their team last year and this year along with a 5⭐️ McDonald's All American (that won newcomer of the year) and could only muster up 9 conference wins.

Sometimes we get fooled by the star rating system and McDonald’s All Americans.

If you are returning the best player in the conference and it ain’t close and I’m returning an avg. players who benefits the most from the COVID rule? All I’m saying is Coach Reed benefited the most from this ruling. This factor helped to pad her conference record.

It seems like some of you expect Coach Reed will recruit POY year after year.

Nobody was fooled by with Zaay Green as she lived up to all of her hype and won post season honors. Again you wouldn't know because you don't follow Swac women's basketball you just wanted to hate. Pinebluff returned a POTY 2 years running. Again your point is mute. And only 1 player can be POTY that doesn't diminish that players like Green at PB, Lewis at aamu, Johnson at su, Avent & Bridges at tsu, Emmanuel at bama, nor Holt at gram are any less talented.

For me I want to see a coach win with different recruiting classes before I consider him or her a great coach. Coach Reed has won the last two years with the 2021 & 2022 POY on both team. The 2021 POY was on the team in 2022. The 2022 POY was on the team in 2021. I can’t remember the last time that has happen.

Most winning teams will have POY - that’s like saying I want to see how Gino does it without Diana Turasi or something like that.

Some coaches could have POY candidates but do not put them in position to play to that standard. I’m sure she can coach - she’s won everywhere she’s been.

Is Texas Southern driving up the price? I know a lot of y’all love Coach Reed, but I don’t see why y’all get so excited about her. I’m not saying she is not a good coach, but if you’re looking for good coaches at none power five programs, she wouldn’t be at the top of my list.
You do realize this is Coach Reed second stint at j st right? She's won the conference as an assistant 06 07 08 i believe and as a head coach the last 2 or 3 plus should've beating lsu.

I did not know that and you can’t expect me to know that. JSU shared the title in 03 and 06. Was Reed an assistant on those teams?

You mean could have beaten LSU. I think it would be unfair to say TSU should have beaten JSU this year.
Yes she was an assistant. Come on man txsu or lsu that's unfair to compare. My lady jags beat y'all twice we lost to the lady tigers of jst every time. Coach Reed is legit. She really is a wbna coach now.

You made it seem like Reed was an assistant for three years that Jackson won the SWAC. After a little research it was determined JSU shared the title in 06 and 07. They went to the WNIT in 06 and 07. JSU didn’t win the conference in 08, but they won the tournament.

I think Reed deserves more credit than I was giving her, but it doesn’t mean she is ready for the SWAC Hall of Fame.

I was not trying to compare Texas Southern to LSU. I’m saying TSU was closer to beating JSU than JSU was to beating LSU.

Do you really think Reed is ready for the WNBA? Let’s see what she does at Southern Miss, Ole Miss, or Miss. St. first.

She was an assistant under Denise Taylor

Good grief now this is hating for real. This young lady has won every place she's been. To be honest what more does she have to prove in the conference? Oh yea she will be in the Swac hall of fame with her resume.

What's are we paying her now since we apparently aren't "paying her"?
I’m guessing her new contract should be between 150,000. and 200,000. She should be the highest paid women’s basketball coach in the conference. If she is as good as y’all say she is y’all need to pay her.

Just to be messy, TSU should offer her 145,000.

Women's basketball doesn't generate enough money to pay coaches big money at non-power 5 schools. So, Coach Reed can make a transformative amount of money for herself and her family at another school; a power 5 school. And, that day will come. Wish her well.
