Deion Sanders’possible HBCU camp

Deion Sanders sounds serious about HBCU camp
DeionSanders.jpg

ATLANTA–This weekend Deion Sanders had Twitter buzzing when he suggested that he wanted to host a free camp for defensive backs who attended HBCUs. There was no shortage of responses for locations and willing participants
...........

This is possibly going to happen because it has now expanded into a quarterback and receiver camp also from hbcus. Deon is looking for a place and some help. In my opinion there only two possible places to have this camp. They are Tennessee State and Alabama State both are centrally located in the footprint of HBCU football. Tennessee State has an indoor facility and that may make a difference when it comes to the time of the year that this Camp could be held. Alabama state has better facilities outside in the open air. Nashville is a bigger city easier than Montgomery to fly into. If you include quarterbacks and receivers you're probably looking at close to 200 campers, and that number could change if you include incoming freshmen or exiting seniors. It seems to me that Tennessee State would be the best place to have it.

think you've got to put pv in there. If it's good enough for USATF then it'll be fine for Deion.

Facilities is the thing that hurts Grambling when it comes to things like this. Imagine having a press conference in the Eddie Robinson Museum and being on the campus of the most renowned HBCU football program in the country.

Deon has been to Grambling a number of times (at least 4) that I know of....

I hope not. He can stay his leaching now "woke" ass away from campus. He's about as serious regarding HBCUs as Willie Simmons lol.

I've been pushing for JSU and Valley on Twitter for a few days now since I first heard of this

Centralized locations with history and no issues with lodging.

He act like, we are helpless or something. If he is really concerned. Send some of those 5 star recruits to HBCU's.
Thank you.

I trip on how so many average and below average HBCU “grads” lol seemingly slobber over people like him, whose original intent is very well documented. smh Let that dude do what he does over there ——> his wishy-washy azz. Ditto for the emmitt smiths et al. Stay far far away. We made it thusfar w/out them. They are not needed and they are not a part of this very special fraternity, regardless of those idjits who try to include them and look up to them as if they are demigods lol.

Man, fugg him and his camp. We are doing things on a smaller scales. Look, I would rather have men that will produce in the corporate world than on a football field.

Also, why didn't his sons' steer them toward a HBCUs'?

Ray Lewis' son attend Virginia Union. Also, he did a banquet for Lane College on a few years, ago. Now, I might not agree with Ray Lewis on a lot. But, he is okay with me.

I still stand behind the thought that Tennessee state would be the perfect place. But I'm a little torn about this taking place as if hbcus are a charity case. We kind of our charity cases but it hurts to think of us like that.

Again, we don't need his camp. We may not have football factories. But, HBCU's were not made for that particular issue. They were made to educate our people.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
Don Carey
Rafeal Bush
Chad Williams
Danny Johnson
Trent Cannon

We have skilled players at our schools. Again, Fugg Deion and his camp.

I don't want a HBCU skills camp.

I want a: 1. Financial boot camp
2. Technology boot camp
3. Home ownership
4. How to eat right
5. How to update our facilities into the 21st century.

These are only camps that I want to see at an HBCU.

Some of you complain just to complain. How about asking the players would they want to go lol. My guess is 9.9 out of 10 certainly don't say no.

And they know this. This would be the opportunity of a lifetime if they pulled this camp off especially if one of our schools got to host it.

Why stuff like this is being brought up on the Sports Board is beyond me. Not saying that this stuff wouldn't be helpful but to shoot something down before it even becomes a reality is just classic "old man yelling at the clouds" syndrome

So, you are fine with us being a charity case? Why does Deion want to start a camp? Again, this camp is useless, if we don't have the resources.

Again, he can steer some players to our schools.

If he said, I want to host some of top high school talent/future NFL talent at a HBCU campus. I would have been all for it. But, don't single us out like a charity case. I guess, only a few of us able to see thru Mr. Sanders.

If he would've got with some other HBCU greats to promote this endeavor. Maybe, I would've got behind it.

Damn, Mrwiregrass, you really don't like this dude do you. LOL!!!

alot of folks have used our schools to prop themselves us when their "alma maters" have no need for their services but they don't reciprocate it back and take on HBCU grads.

Thanks. HBCU alums were acting were so happy. But, Deion isn't doing to for the good. It's something alternative motive for him.

You're speaking towards negroes. We are African-Americans. They are negroes. 2 totally differing mindsets. They are mesmerized by "named star power" that just woke up. lol

when their "alma maters" have no need for their services

He should host his camp @ florida state university. Isn't that where he graduated/matriculated?

Holla at me when Chad Williams and Danny Johnson co-host a camp in Baton Rouge (their stomping grounds).
